  • DIRECTIONS TO EX12 3NA

    BUY CAR:

    Follow the brown official Tourist Board direction signs indicated with a train symbol for ‘Pecorama Pleasure Gardens’ from the A3052 towards Beer.

    BY BUS:

    The X52 service travels from Exeter through to Bridport via Lyme Regis, stopping off at Beer Cross which is a 10 minute walk from Pecorama.

    The 9 / 9A service runs hourly from Exeter to Seaton / Lyme Regis and the 20 service travels from Taunton, via Wellington and Honiton, to Seaton where there are bus services to Beer. Both of these services are offered by Stagecoach.

    AVMT provide the 899 service from Sidmouth to Seaton and the 885 from Axminster to Colyton, Seaton and Beer. Some of these buses pass just outside Pecorama and will stop on request.

    BY TRAIN:

    The nearest train station to Pecorama is Axminster, on the West of England main line. Trains run approximately every hour from Exeter St Davids and from London Waterloo. The station is approximately 9 miles from us. The 885 AVMT bus service travels from the Station to Colyton, Seaton and Beer, every hour Monday to Saturday.

    Alternatively, taxis from the station can be booked in advance – Axminster Taxis 01297 34000.

    Pecorama is located high on the hillside, less than a mile from the sea and often seems to have its own micro-climate. Therefore, if you are planning a visit and the general forecast is not that good, why not telephone us for an up-to-date report of what is actually happening here at Pecorama – the chances are we are having a lovely day!

Special Events 2020

Kit Construction Days*

28 Jul 2020 - 25 Aug 2020

Tuesdays Only – Two sessions per day at 11am & 2pm (nominal charge for kits applies)

Every Tuesday between the 28th July and 25th August there will be a wonderful opportunity for you to learn about building kits from renowned modelling experts Gordon and Maggie Gravett. Gordon, famous for his French metre gauge ‘Pempoul’ model railway, will show you the best ways to place your buildings in realistic scenes.

NOTE: A nominal charge will be made for all kits in addition to normal Pecorama entry fee. Children must be accompanied by an adult. The drop-in sessions are from 11.00am to 1.00pm and from 2.00pm to 4.00pm.  Last admission is 20 minutes before the end of the session.

It’s Loco Week!

From Monday 24th until 31st August Loco week takes off with once again all of our resident engines in service, plus guest engines from around the country, all combining to operate an intensive train service on the Beer Heights Light Railway.  Most passenger trains will be “double headed” with both a PECO and guest locomotive. There’ll also be demonstration goods trains and double-runs throughout the day.

Experience fabulous food from our local region. Eat alfresco from the Junction whilst enjoying the beautiful views of the Jurassic Coast!

Savour some of our scrumptious Devon cream teas and other great homemade food in our Garden Room Restaurant.

Sit and enjoy afternoon entertainment (excludes Friday and Saturday), stroll around the Model Railway Exhibition, buy souvenirs in the shop and enjoy wandering through our stunning gardens.

 

Railway Modelling Course

A practical introduction to the core aspects of railway modelling, with expert tuition from our very own in-house modellers

The course will start with a private guided tour of the Pecorama Model Railway Exhibition to illustrate many of the techniques that will be taught. Much of the course will be hands-on, with your tutors assisting and advising you on each aspect.

Over the duration of the course each student will learn how to model their own section of baseboard, which can be taken home at the end of the course.

£225 per person (Price includes all refreshments for the day)
